Friday Happy Hour

…in a healthy way


I have been a bartender since I was 18 years old. I am now 30. Bartending is something that I always hung on to. I bartended throughout college and when I had my “career”. Then, when my first daughter, who I call “Jub” was born I didn’t want to go back to work full time. I didn’t want to leave her. So, lucky for me I was working part time at a bar and one of their full time bartenders left. I was able to pick up his shifts, four of them to be exact. I will never forget the fear of not making enough money. I was used to a steady income plus my one night behind the bar and I just gave up my steady income. Well, to my surprise, pleasant surprise , I made a lot of money that first week. Enough money that I didn’t worry about my full time income any longer. Since then, I have cut down on my bartending shifts significantly. I work one night a week behind a bar and spend the rest of my time parenting two girls, a German Shepard puppy (who has no idea how giant he is) and two cats who HATE the German Shepard. I still enjoy my night behind the bar. I enjoy the social aspect and being busy. The late nights suck though.

Any who, not working on a Friday night is new to me. I won’t lie, I really enjoy it…but I am just not used to it. So, I decided to turn my old Happy Hours behind the bar serving cheap domestic drafts and fried food into sharing recipes to healthy smoothies on my Facebook page. Maybe, one day, I’ll add liquor….or food recipes. Skies the limit!
